Jackie Glass
An outspoken advocate for defendants’ rights, Judge Jackie Glass is the powerful force behind “Swift Justice with Jackie Glass.”
Glass is best known as the straightforward judge who presided over the case that sent O.J. Simpson to prison for his role in an armed robbery at a Las Vegas hotel in 2008.
Glass has been a District Court judge in Clark County, Nevada, for eight years, presiding over criminal and civil cases. She is known for her work in several high-profile trials, including Simpson’s, as well as her no-nonsense courtroom style and “get-it-done” attitude.
In addition to her judgeship, Glass helped create the Clark County Mental Health Court in 2003, in an effort to improve how the criminal justice system deals with mental illness. She also established a task force to gauge whether a person is competent to stand trail, leading to the creation of the Clark County Competency Court in 2005.
During her last year on the bench, Glass oversaw Clark County District’s drug and alcohol treatment courts. These influential courts provide therapeutic supervision and treatment for defendants with serious substance addictions.
Before she was elected to the bench, she spent 18 years as a lawyer, including 12 years at Wolfson & Glass, a firm she founded with her husband and Las Vegas City Councilman, Steve Wolfson.
Initially, Glass wanted to be a journalist. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a journalism degree in 1978 and moved to Las Vegas to work as a radio news reporter, which led to jobs as a television anchor and crime beat reporter. Covering crime sparked her interest in the law, which changed her career path. She attended the University of San Diego’s School of Law, where she earned her juris doctorate in 1984.
Glass resides in Las Vegas with her husband and has two daughters.
“Swift Justice with Jackie Glass” is produced by Swift Justice Productions, Inc. and is distributed by CBS Television Distribution. John Terenzio is executive producer and Lou Dennig is senior supervising producer. CBS Television Distribution is a unit of CBS Corp.
