Jan Buckner Walker
Jan Buckner Walker is the creator of Kids Across Parents Down–the #1 family crossword in newspaper syndication, as well as a puzzlemaker, children's book author and attorney. "Kids Across Parents Down," a weekly feature sporting "across" clues for kids and "down" clues for parents, has been dubbed "The Original Crossword Puzzle for Kids and Their Favorite Adults." The puzzles, family favorites in newspapers and children's magazines (Jack and Jill, Humpty Dumpty's Magazine, Nick Jr. Family Magazine and Children's Digest), bring kids and parents together across the globe.
Her popular "Kids Across Parents Down" book series, available internationally, launched its first two titles– "Crazy Critters" and "On the Go"–-offering even more education wrapped in fun. The books promote literacy, bonding and fun in a cross-generational way. "Kids Across Parents Down" fans can also enjoy the puzzles in kids' menus, restaurant booklets (Cracker Barrel and McDonald's) and materials offered by other family-friendly establishments.
Buckner Walker was raised in Silver Spring, Md. She earned her bachelor's degree in journalism from Howard University and later graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she was an editor of the school's prestigious Law Review.
As the popularity of "Kids Across Parents Down" grows, ending contracts promise to bring the popular feature to television, board games, wireless applications and other arenas.
