How does your garden grow? Upwards
Gardening in a small space can be challenging, but some of the nicest gardens I have seen have been small and incredibly well thought out. I lived in New York City for several years and learned some creative ways to garden in small spaces.
Never gardened before? What a year to start!
If this is the first year you have decided to plant a vegetable garden of your own, congratulations!
Creating a 'full' garden takes years of thought and patience
One of the pleasures I take in my garden is watching it change as time passes. The long-awaited flowers of early-blooming bulbs like crocus and daffodils provide the first splash of spring color in my garden.
Warm weather leaves gardeners wondering what to do
The record-breaking warm temperatures this spring have raised a lot of questions about the effects this will have on the plants in our gardens.
Climate change we can believe in
Every spring, the magnolia growing on the side of our house is the first tree in the neighborhood to burst into bloom.
Your garden is about to awake -- are you ready?
Once spring begins, it progresses with astonishing speed. In the beginning of the week, large patches of Crocus tommasinianus, one of my earliest spring bulbs, began emerging from the ground along with large drifts of snowdrops.
