TAYLOR ON JOE

'HE'S AN AMAZING GUY!'

Fresh from her kiss-filled datewith -Jonas, Swift talks to Us about him - and her role as reporter at the VMAs!

Since they met last winter, Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas have done their best to stay in touch despite their bustling careers. In between visits to each other's tour stops, Swift, 18, and Jonas, 19, "talk almost every day and are constantly texting each other. He even refers to her as 'his girl,'" a source close to the Jonas Brothers tells Us. "Joe sometimes wishes that they had normal schedules so that they could see more of each other, but they plan their schedules accordingly so that they can meet up whenever they are close."

The two did just that on August 28, with a romantic triple date at New York City's Tao, where Joe's younger brother, Nick, brought along Wizards of Waverly Place star Selena Gomez (his girlfriend of several months), and older brother Kevin came with his steady, a New Jersey native named -Danielle Deleasa. "The guys had their arms around them, and they were smooching all night," says an insider at the swank eatery, where the lovebirds dined on Kobe steak, sushi, Chilean sea bass and shrimp tempura. "Joe loves the fact that Taylor is so well-known now," the Jonas source says of the Grammy-nominated Swift (whose next album, Fearless, hits November 11). "But when it is just the two of them, you would never know. They are both -really humble and do not talk about Hollywood when they are together. He cannot get enough of her!" So was the Tao date night the official coming-out party for the couple? Us went directly to the source to find out.

So, you shot a cameo in Joe's "Burnin' Up" music video, and he's called you "a great girl." Can you make it official and -confirm to Us that you guys are dating?

TAYLOR SWIFT He's an amazing guy. Anybody would be lucky to be dating him.

Including you?

[Laughs] Anybody.

Understood. Did you guys have fun at Tao?

Dinner was great. It was really cool.

And you were there with all of the Jonas Brothers, right?

Yeah, they're awesome.

How is your tour going?

It's really cool. I'm out with Rascal Flatts right now, and we've been on tour with them since May. It goes until November.

But you're taking a break to do the VMAs.

Yes, it will be so much fun. This is my first time going to the VMAs, so it's been really exciting getting prepared for it.

And you'll be a fashion correspondent for MTV News' pre-VMA show (Sunday, September 7 at 8 p.m.)?

I get my own platform! It's weird: I've never been an interviewer on the red carpet before - I've always been interviewed. So hopefully, I don't mess up. And I've learned to read a teleprompter like no other. I've read them before because I've been a presenter on awards shows before.

Have you thought about your interview style?

I think I'm going to just be myself. I have a real sarcastic sense of humor, so that might come up. Or if I'm a really big fan of certain artists, I'll definitely tell them. And if somebody is wearing something, like, What is that? then I'll tell them.

So you'll be like the -teenage Joan Rivers.

Oh, no. [Laughs] Well, I don't know. She's done pretty well for herself, so I can only hope.

What are some red carpet dos and don'ts?

Definitely throw your shoulders back as soon as you get on the red carpet if you're a girl. Like, you've got to throw your shoulders back or you will look hunched over. I think wearing high heels is a good thing to do on the red carpet. And make sure you know what face you don't want to be in pictures, because you should not make that face. Make a mental note to not make that face! And also, I would say don't take too long because that would back up the line and other artists and publicists would be really annoyed.

Anyone you're excited to meet at the VMAs?

I would totally love to meet Michael Phelps, and -Christopher Mintz-Plasse from Superbad! And I want Britney Spears to show up really bad.

Have you met her before?

Yeah, I did. I met her back when I was 15 and I was performing at the per-forming arts camp that she had. I've always been pulling for her.

On your tour do you get much downtime?

I do get some. And it's more than I've had in the past because I've been touring constantly in the past two years, so they gave me a few days off this year, which is really nice. I spend those days off just planning for the new album that's coming out in November. I'm really excited about it.

Are you done -recording that, or are you still -working on it?

I'm completely finished recording, and it's just being mixed and mastered now. And I'm just picking pictures and writing all the thank-yous. All that fun stuff.
